(Recipe from "Jackalope Annie", extraordinary recipes for everyday cooks)
Liven up your cookie jar–and conversation–with a quirky take on chocolate chip cookies. These delicious treats will evoke memories of Sequim lavender fields as they grace any tea table or dessert tray.
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1-1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup miniature chocolate chips
2 tbs lavender (available at natural food stores)
Preheat oven to 375.
In a medium bowl, beat the butter, dark brown sugar, white sugar, and salt until well mixed and fluffy. Add the egg; stir until glossy. Mix in the flour and baking soda until the mixture is smooth. Stirring gently, add the chocolate chips and lavender.
Drop onto a baking sheet in 2-tsp spoonfuls, at least 2 inches apart. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until just beginning to brown. Cool on a wire rack.
Yield: about 3 dozen cookies.
